People of Destiny

“Becoming the people God has destined us to be.”

That is the statement that guides the church that I am now a part of in the bay area.  It has been a while since my last post, but I am excited about the church I now call my ’home church’.    The church is Destiny Christian Fellowship and is led by Pastor Paul Sheppard and our first lady, Meredith Sheppard.

This new church plant is the continuation of the vision God gave to Pastor Paul over 20 years ago.  It is the same vision, but now it is continuing in a new fellowship.  Where do we meet?  Well, we meet all over the bay area.  It feels kind of like what the Israelites must have experienced as the moved from place to place with the Tabernacle.  We currently meet in various Marriott Hotels in cities like Santa Clara, Fremont, and San Mateo.

I have been very encouraged by the messages Pastor Paul has been preaching on.  He has been open and transparent to share what God has brought he and is wife through during the last year and how it has impacted their ministry.  We have been challenged to become Christians who don’t have to hide and cover up our struggles.  Rather, we need to find safe people to share those struggles with and seek prayer partners to pray us through.  I stress the word “safe”.  You have to be careful to find those believers who are open and honest about their struggles and who have genuine trust in God’s healing and provision.  I too am looking forward to the continuing restoration God has begun in my own life and my return to vocational ministry.  I know that He holds my destiny in His hands and that I am trusting Him to see me through.
